First of all, I'm SO happy to read the good news about both Jakob and your friend!! Any good news is precious, especially this time of year. About Santa, I sometimes also wish that I could just go ahead and take the credit for Christmas morning - and I fear what it will be like when tender-hearted Riley finds out the truth. But then I remember how much I loved Santa, and I leave things as they are. If my boys ever complain about Santa's meager offerings, I have my answer ready - Santa knows they have a big family that loves to give them lots of presents, so he needs to leave some things for everybody else to give them. :)

I totally agree with you. The little ones aren't quite as greedy as Sassy. Bo asked if we could buy a bd present for Baby Jesus. But as for the money thing, I tell my kids that the parents have to give Santa the money. Which also explains why we buy Christmas for the needy.

Oh, I totally agree. Thankfully the boys are still pretty young yet, and we remind Buddy ALL THE TIME that Santa can't grant every wish. We have even also told him that Santa has a "budget" too. Only so much per child.

Now, it's not really Santa's fault. ;) I blame the evil toy companies... ya know, Santa's competition. My boys get one or two really cool things from Santa (which he leaves under the tree unwrapped). The rest of the crap comes from mom and dad. Don't hate on the old elf. I'm sure he detests all the commercialism as well! :)

I'm with ya on the commercialism of Christmas. My 4 year old's list is insanely long. And NO, he will not be getting all those things. Even in Santa's magic sleigh, there simply isn't enough room. He has to have room for toys for other kids, too.

I REALLY have a letter I want to write about something that happened today, but I'm debating it, as this week is stressful enough, without the comment war that would most likely ensue from it.
