I am not good at parking cars. I don't know what it is about trying to fit my van in between two white or yellow lines that is so difficult for me. When I first started driving I hit a parked car that was in the spot next to the one I was trying to pull into. Not such a proud moment in my life as the owner of that car stood and watched me hit his car and when I got out to face him I gushed, "I'm so sorry Mister, I'm so sorry Mister!" Yeah, I can be eloquent like that sometimes.
Parking Chris' SUV is just about impossible for me. How are you supposed to be able to park a big ol' vehicle when you can't see over the top of the hood? I'm always astounded when Chris can back into a space. Especially when there are cars on either side of him already parked. That takes a skill that I just do not possess. Oh, and don't get me started on parking garages. I mean really, those things need to make their lanes about 5 feet wider.
But I must say, I have never been as bad at parking as this guy we saw at Walmart (of course) in Roswell, NM.

At least I know how to pull my car into the parking space once I get it lined up!Be sure to hop on over to Rachel and Mr. Daddy's house and read more true stories! I have yet to be disappointed!

42 Validations To Make Me Feel Worthy:
Ha!! I'm not good at parking either, which is unnerving considering I drive a big ol' suburban.
However, I always get out of the car after pulling into a spot to make sure I'm right in between the lines and pulled up far enough. Looks like whoever the driver was of that vehicle needs to adopt a similar policy. LOL
I'll never forget the first time I borrowed my boyfriend's SUV (now my husband) and he jokingly said, "now don't wreck it."
Well, I didn't wreck it, but as I was trying to back out of the parking space, the SUV stopped going in reverse...hmmm...why? So I put it in drive and pulled a few inches forward, ONLY TO SEE THE CAR PARKED NEXT TO ME ROCKING BACK AND FORTH...aaaargh!!!!
I put it into park, got out, and sure enough, the stupid 4ft. high bumper snagged on the door frame of the other vehicle as I started turning too soon as I backed out.
The worst part...I had to go into a chiropractor's office to find the owner of the vehicle who was sitting in the waiting room wearing a neck brace from a previous accident! In hindsight, it's quite funny, but at 23 I burst into tears I felt so bad!
And that's my TRUE story for the day. Have a great one!

Really? How do you get to this point ~ where you just say "Nah - this is good"? I hate when people park to close to the line, or even worse on it. AARRGGHH! I drive an SUV but at least make every attempt to not be a parking jerk.
Um, seriously. Those are the type of cars I "accidentally" damage. (Just kidding. Kind of!)
I can park in a parking lot, but if I know I will need to parallel park, I make someone else drive. I did it once, to pass my driver's test, and never again.
I always make sure I pull up all the way, and that there is plenty of space on either side. I remember plenty of times when I had a baby in a carseat carrier that I had to put in and out of the car, and the car next to me was so close I couldn't open the door all the way to get it in.
What in the world was that person thinking?
Don't you wonder how people like that even know how to drive in the first place:)
I can park in a parking space, but I can't do the backing into the space think either. OMW ~ this guy was like in a hurry to get beer or something... or maybe he was abducted by aliens while trying to park his car?
I was driving my sister's (now ex-)husband's car once, a long long time ago. It was his pride and joy. I managed to get the bumper stuck on some stairs, and literally peeled it off the back of the car. He was not impressed. Oh, and once, when driving the same car (must have happened before the bumper because I can't imagine he would have let me drive it ever after that), I was filling the car with petrol, in the days of petrol station attendants. Attendant hooked me up, I paid, I drove off, the nozzle was still in the car and snapped of with a loud TWANG!!! I'm blaming the attendant on that one. It wasn't my fault. Honest.
ohmygosh. Seriously? wow I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the parking break failed and nobody got hurt.nice.
what's worse is that you KNOW he got out and saw that he had parked all jacked up and went right on in anyway!!!
freakshow!
Wow. I thought I was bad. I definitely CAN NOT park the SUV though. The hubbs shouldn't even let me drive it, really.
xoxo

Oh my gosh...I have seen parkers like that...that is why I carry cards in my wallet that says " your parking sucks".....to funny
How's this for weird? I can parallel park easier than I can park in a parking lot.
Those pics kill me!
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha : ) Send that to peopleofwalmart.com : )
That is the worst parking job I have ever seen! I have gotten pretty good at parking myself. I had a big huge van for about 8 years. It took a lot of practice. But, I got it down pretty darn good if I do say so myself. :)
Julie,
Our Super Walmart has a section in the back called SITE to STORE or vice versa...anyway, if you are perusing the furniture aisle and see something that says FREE ASSEMBLY that is where you pick it up.
As far as I know, they don't have delivery. So yes, me and my two preschoolers had the local yahoos load up the table and chairs into the back of the MINIVAN! LOL
The irony...the store associates were asking ME how I thought they should load the table and chairs into the van (two men...I thought they were the more logical species). They wanted to stand it upright and then put the chairs in around (like if you're eating dinner) and I was like, "not gonna work. You need to slide the table in on its top and lay the chairs on their sides." MEN!
And I couldn't pass geometry sophomore year of high school...
Have a great day!

Time and space can be tricky little fiends, can't they?
omg I love that pic, and I love that you took the pic to post it, lol
LOL...I hate parking too. I feel like everyone is watching too which really puts on the pressure.
Someone really walked away and thought that was a decent park job?! It makes you wonder how they got their license to begin with. I don't enjoy the parking process either but I think if you are that bad at it maybe you should stick with the bus. ;)
You have such a knack for telling stories! Oh, and shout out on my blog too!
LOL I at least pull in when I manage to get between the line lol!
Parking sure can be tricky. For me it just depends on the day- I have good days and bad days. Totally laughing that you took those pictures!
HAH! Do you live in NM? It reminds me of parking in the lot at the train in the morning. I swear this woman is as nice as can be on the train, but every morning she attempts to back in to a handicap spot with her little car. She pulls back, gets out, cusses at the car, gets in and tries it again. I know I shouldn't laugh but some mornings when you're standing out there at 5:15 AM you just need to smile about something. ;)
I drive a diesel 1 ton full size. Sometimes parking can be a challenge it's true.
that's hilarious! Maybe there were about 50 buggies there when they parked?!?!?!?! LOL That blows my mind that someone would leave their car parked like that.
I love that you got a picture of it! I am thinking he just might have been there to stock up on some more gin. Just a guess.
Mrs. NB
LOL - I am cracking up that you thought to get pictures.
And I am dying that sweet Pam has those cards in her purse!
I think you've struck a nerve... bad parking jobs always drive me nuts!
Another TST in the works for me regarding the first time I backed out of a parking space with my LICENSE. Ouch
When I was 16 I failed my driving test because I couldn't parallel park. He said I parked like a drunk sailor, practice more, then try again.
That is so funny! I hate when people take up two spaces!
Although not even taking up one is pretty bad too!
I just had to comment because I am the same person who backed into a tree in my inlaws driveway (okay well it was technically onthe side of the circle driveway... I had to back up the only straight part to get back to the mother in law house that we were living in.) I also have had several other little fender benders... so I am all for me not ever driving anytime. I like being the passanger I am a happy passanger.
So what happens I start volunteering for the local Ambulance Service and they require that I drive the Ambulance...SERIOUSLY and FYI you have to back up to a patients home to have better access to the stretcher and you have to back up to the hospital to unload. No rear view mirrors just sideview and depending on the patient your trying to do this quick. I had to do this several times but I finally got comfortable but I did. And Now I Can Park My Minivan in any spot...any spot and even back in to spots. Just had to share.
I just love Wal-Mart. And looking back on Brian's post on the Dumas scale, I think you can find people there that on a scale of 1-10 go as high as 20....LOL
Like they say: you just can't fix stupid...
Maybe he was there getting some glasses?! Can't wait to show you guys photos of the parking in Kyiv!
I am so bad at parking too, and even worse about backing up.
Thank you for all of your sweet comments while I have been MIA, I hope I am back for good, though I still may be a little busy for the next few weeks!
Those pictures are priceless! I admit, I am a bad driver AND even worse at parking, but not this bad! He must have been in a huge hurry to get in to WalMart.
Not that this has anything to do with parking, but I know you will think it is funny. One time my sister was at a gas station and she drove away from the pump with the nozzle still in her car! Luckily there is a release so that you won't pull the entire thing out of the ground. This was in LA and there were dozens of people who saw.
Oh, julie, that was a moment in Benny/Benji history! One I was proud to witness! LOL Benji is doing slightly better today, we have heard, I just hate to put stuff on the blog that hasn't officially came from the family. He is still in critical condition, but much safer now that he is in Cleveland. Thanks for checking in. I admit I am a wreck from all this. I cannot imagine how they feel right now, but I know I am sick as a dog, and I feel guilty 'cause imagine how they feel. I am just so thrilled beyond belief that I got to see himm. I don't think he wont come back from cleveland, if you know what I mean, I just wanted to show him I cared one last time before he left for possibly a month or more. Okay, I am rambling and will sign off now! Thanks for "listening!"
you know, i thought the same thing at first: "what kind of an ass parks like that?"
well, i'll tell ya. a SMART ass. with KIDS. in CARSEATS. i'm talking about the 5 point harness carseats. oh yeah, now you see where i'm going. remember when your kids were little and some ass-hole would park so freaking close to your vehicle that you had to carry your kids in your teeth by the scruff of their necks like PUPPIES as you climb in from the opposite side of the car just to get them into their carseats? i could have potentially saved myself *hours* of sweat if i had started parking like that 4 years ago.
that guy, or woman more likely, is my new parking hero.
Pull Up Buddy! I like Kimber's word: Freakshow!!!
My husband has been know to make people pay for their bad parking decisions. You know, accidentally opening his door too hard or accidentally spilling his drink on their windshield! All accidents!
OMW! That is too funny!! I did the same thing when I was first learning how to drive (Hit someones parked car in the parking lot) only the owner wasn't watching me. It was some stranger watching me and when the owner walked out just after it happened, the stranger accused me of trying to take off! The nerve.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! And yes, I do still have the boxes! :)
I am the absolute worst at parking cars. I really wanted a Highlander, but we had to get a Murano cuz I couldn't handle the Highlander. Ah ha ha
seriously...that's parked.
Hmmmm...maybe they are issuing driver's licenses to the blind in Tx ;)
Looks like he/she forgot to set the parking brake. I can't see over the hoods in any of our family cars. And the truck!...I don't even try to drive that.
