Letters of Intent

Letters of Intent

Spoiled kids? Spoiled spouse? Spoiled dinner? Are you cranky, tired, sick, tired of being sick and tired? Need to whine? Need to cry? Need to shout at someone...anyone? Maybe you need to shout out that you have a new arrival on the way (Brandi), or that you are a fabulous writer of blog posts but for some reason your fabulousness just isn't well known (Brian). Well, now is your chance! Write it all out...in letter form of course. Tell us the who, what, when, where, and why of all the unhappy/glorious events of your week. Grab my button from my left sidebar, write your letter, and link up at the bottom. I look forward to your Letters of Intent!

Please ignore the formatting- Blogger sucks.

Oh my gosh, if you haven't been writing your letters folks you need to do so quickly. We are kickin' a$$ and takin' names. Seriously. First, Rachel penned a letter to Ben and Jerry's about her ultimate disappointment in their brownie-free Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream. She was rewarded with coupons for a free pint of the yummy deliciousness as well as discounts on future purchases. And now... I have received a fabulous response to my letter to MegaBloks. I wrote this letter after my Christmas temper tantrum over a hand to hand conflict I had with their HALO toys.

I have to admit though- I first sent the letter off to LEGO thinking my beef was with them. And part of it was. They charge WAY TOO MUCH for a box of random Lego's. But, since the product I was spittin' mad about was not actually theirs- they have not responded. But, when I sent the letter off to MegaBloks- the actual maker of the toy (yeah, dumb mistake I know, but who knew MegaBloks made Lego's? I sure didn't.) I got a response I did not expect.

Like Rachel I typed up something or other about my disappointment with their toys and gave them the link to my blog. Barbara Houde, Customer Service Supervisor, emailed me directly and we have communicated back and forth several times through email. I am more then pleased with the outcome of my letter. This is what she had to say:

Mrs. *****,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Halo Wars product.

We are sorry to learn that you had difficulties with the Halo Wars Warthog set # 96805. We always appreciate any feedback that we receive because it is our top priority to satisfy our customers. Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences. Our products always go through different quality control tests before being released. Rest assured that we will share your comments with our Quality control department.

Possibly your Halo Wars Warthog set may have had some flawed pieces that could have contributed to the structural difficulties.

To thank you for your feedback and patience, it would be our pleasure to send you a replacement item of equal value from our website at www.megabrands.com
Let us know your selection (do not pay attention to the "in/out stock" noticed), please provide us with 2 choices and please confirm your delivery address.

Again we apologize for any inconveniences.

Awaiting your response

Did you catch that? I picked out two toys for my troublesome temper tantrums! Now I am not sure if I am receiving two toys or if I picked out two in case the f
irst one was unavailable, but either way I am happy. I also feel it necessary to point out that they did pick the least expensive toy as the replacement value, but again I am OK with that. They are offering me something tangible instead of a flippant apology in a letter that is worthless.

So come on y'all! Write your letters, send them off, and let us know the outcome! We have the power to change the world...or maybe at least get some free ice cream and toys. But who doesn't want that?!

I love this! Just a few weeks ago I called Step 2 Customer Service because the handle broke on our little car. I really called to see how I could order a replacement part and the customer service rep said that since it broke they would send me a free replacement part! I gave her my name, address, the color of the car we have and in about 7 days a new part was at my door!
I am dying to know about Battle of the Blogs!

wife.mom.nurse said...

I am getting such a kick out of the picture of the two of you! LOL!

Woo hoo. Good for you. Most places do want to make you happy.
Actress sent her letter off way back when and got a stupid generic post card...so I emailed them to express my disappointment and they sent her a real letter with a coupon inside. Big deal...but she thought it was the best and is hanging onto the letter & coupon for dear life. LOL
Thanks justice.

Good to send a link to your blog. They don't want their name tarnished on the web so they'll definitely take care of you!

Battle of the blogs! Awesome!

Excellent! I wrote a letter of complaint about a teacher leading the college algebra review for GRE test. It got him fired.

Totally took the air out of my sails. I felt guilty.

Rachel said...

Girl, I about wet myself every time I see that picture!

Giggling madly at the screen, much to the amused confusion of my 3-year old.

I CAN NOT WAIT to ring in the Battle of the Blogs - this will be a blast.

But you're going down... just sayin' :)

And waaaay cool about Megabloks! We love us some free ice cream and toys!

I have def complained about plenty of stuff before but never went as far as to mail in a letter because most of the time I didn't think it was worth my time. This letter suprised me! I will be doing that next time... since there will always be a problem (or 2 )with toys since Hayden is only 2.

I'm so glad MegaBlocks responded to your complaint and took care of you!

What is this "Battle of the Blogs"? I feel left out!!

I cannot wait ~ it's like I said at Rachel's place...this is the blogland equivalent of a Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice cross-over episode! I thought that was you when I saw the pic the other day...too funny!

Kelli @ RTSM said...

Battle of the Blogs?!? That is both scary and exciting at the same time! I think:)

I'm glad you got a good response to your letter...and free stuff is always nice! I will have to start thinking about a letter to right! So far I have been a non-participater...mostly because I don't have anything good to write:)

You've inspired to write more letters to companies that piss me off. My mom got 3 big cans of coffee from Nabob because she called to complain about a bad can she got, lol. Rachel got coupons, you got free toys .. absolutely worth it.

That pic is pretty hot eh .. ;)

This should be good! And pay no attention to the part in my comment to Rachel where I said I could slightly be afraid of you in real life, cause I didn't mean that (cough, cough) lol This sounds like a blast and I can't wait!!!!!!!!! Bring it on, girls! We're waiting!!!!

Those letters do make a difference some times.

You have my interest peaked with the battle of the blogs thing. HMMM!

You can also call restaurant corporate offices when you have a bad experience or complaint at a resstaurant and get pretty good responses too. We have called several to complain about no changing tables (BIG issue with me-don't call yourself a family restaurant if I can't change my baby there!!) and each time have gotten food coupons. Good stuff! I've never written letters of complaint to any company, but sometimes it's worth your while to complain if you have a real issue! The squeaky wheel gets free stuff! :)

WTG! And that battle of the blogs thing looks hilarious.

You fricking ROCK! Good for you for sending out that letter to Megabloks. Oscar loves playing with the same damn thing and exactly what you said happens - as soon as he gets it together it crumbles apart and breaks when he tries to play with his masterpiece. Maybe I should send of a letter too! I am so glad that they responded positively to your letter. Brownie points for Megabloks, even if I hate that their crap falls apart.

You suck! AG won't even acknowledge my presence! Can't wait for Blog Wars!

Yay for getting the replacements! I'm going to have to think of what I need to complain about. I want something, too. ;)

LOL@ that pic!

Okay, twice now you've told me I should link up one of my rants with your letters of intent and twice I've been like, "I have no idea how to do that." Just right now, right this very second? I got it.

I am not a smart woman and, unlike Forrest Gump, I don't know what love is. That's another story for another day, though.

Jodi Thornton said...

Don't you LOVE it when companies acutally listen to you and help, instead of blowing you off?

And, I love your new Battle of the Blogs button. Tough!

Okay so I read about the Battle of the Bulge/opps Blogs somewhere else. I can't wait to see what it is all about!

I'm dying to read about Battle of the Blogs, whatever that entails!

And whoo-hoo on getting a response from Megablocks (and some free product!) due to your letter! I need to stop stewing and start writing when I'm not pleased w/ a product or service!

I learned the power of the letter a few years ago. It's amazing what sending something certified can accomplish!

Congrats on the outcome of the Halo pieces. I'm still for super gluing the pieces together so you won't step on them in your bare feet.
