It's A Nice Place To Visit But I Wouldn't Want To Live There

Today was our last full day in Ruidoso. Tomorrow we head on back home with a stop in Roswell, NM to take a gander at some aliens. We are no more used to the cold temperatures now then when we arrived. Brrrrr! We are definitely warm weather kind of people. Especially Nolan- after an hour his cheeks and fingers turn bright red and he cries from the pain.

We drove over to Capitan, NM and went to the The Smokey Bear Museum today. We never knew the whole story of Smokey the Bear but it's really interesting. Little baby Smokey was rescued from a forest fire by some firefighters and he was brought back to health after being burned. There were actually 3 Smokeys used in the campaigns and the 1st one is buried at this museum. Poor Jakob cried big ol' crocodile tears for Smokey #1, he was very upset Smokey died. I'm sure part of his emotion is because he has experienced so much death in the last 1 1/2 years. Poor thing.

Smoky The Bear

After some lunch at The Smokey Bear Restaurant (of course) and a little rest we headed to downtown Ruidoso and did a little souvenir shopping and played some more in the snow.

I absolutely love this photo of Nolan. I wish I had a DSLR so it could be that much better!

Nolan on sled

Jakob was cracking up when I started to take this photo and he stopped and posed before the shutter could snap shut. Haha

They look to be on top of the world!

On top of the world

I asked a local to take a photo of all of us. Not to shabby for the one and only shot!

Family Picture

I look forward to getting back to my routine (I'm so predictable it's sickening) and back to all of your blogs within the next couple of days. The withdrawals are just terrible!

You take some amazing pictures. I looked through the last few days. I don't like snow. I thought you were crazy when you said you were going.

If you write a letter to Smokey, he will write you back. My son did it last year, and was quite excited to receive mail. I'm with you about the cold. I hate it. Then again, I hate the heat also. I'm more of a 72* kinda girl. :) Be safe and have fun!

Will I sound completely stupid if I say I didn't know it snowed in NM? The pics are great! Looks like a total blast! My kids are still begging me to take them to see their uncle in NC so they can see snow.

A bloggy friend of mine has family in NM and they went to Roswell during the summer and went to some sort of alien museum. Her pictures were a riot! Your boys should have fun. I know mine would get a kick out of it! :)

What a great and memorable trip! Glad you all had a good time, minus the tears over Lil' Smokey. I know what you mean about getting back in routine though, very comforting : )

Very cool pictures. I love the one of your three boys.

It was 18 degrees this morning and the high is 22 for today. We planned on sledding, but I think we're going to wait.

Rockstar's dad has a house in Ruidoso. We've been there 2x at Christmas. It's fun and pretty there, I love shopping downtown (and I hate shopping) there. So much to see! Hope you had fun!

I gave you some blog bling. It's over at my place. I can't write anything sweet to follow that up because I'm tired from the linking, Max just cussed and Grace's radio is up really loud, making me angry.

Those are still some GREAT shots. I have had a "real" camera for about 3 months and I think I need special ed for camera users. Seriously. I CANNOT get ANYTHING right, so maybe you are better off with the one you have?

CRACKING up about the EX finding the blog. I am with some one who said, "Can she read?" Just use big words and confuse her. :) And don't change your bloggy self ONE BIT.

I live in Southern Maryland, on a peninsula between the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River. Snow is usually light. Just enough to satisfy without being a burden. But about every couple of decades we get a major dump. Just had ours this year. Should be good for awhile.

I'm just catching up on my blog reading - I missed a few days of yours.

I love the shot of Nolan. You really need to enlarge that and frame it! It's rival is the Top of the World photo - I love that!

Looks like such a fun trip! I wonder how long it would take us to get to that part of NM.
How in the world did I miss so many of your posts? I think I commented on 4 posts tonight! Oops!!
