Thankful "Four" Monday

My friend is doing much better! Thank you so much for all of your prayers. I truly believe a miracle has occurred in that she is still alive and expected to make a full recovery with the exception of vision in one eye. But, that eye may heal itself- only time will tell. I am so thankful for all you who felt led to pray for a complete stranger simply because I asked. Her recovery will be slow and she has many difficult months ahead of her, but the fact that I can say she has a future is joy to my heart. Thank you one million times over.

OK, this is hard for me...being sentimental and all. It's just not in my nature and makes me feel all weird and stuff. But seeing as how my blog is for my kids when they are feeling teenager angst or even my grandkids so they can learn how cool Grandma really is...I will participate in this Meme. Ya' know- 'cause they should know this kind of stuff too.

So here we go, the Top 4 Things I am Thankful Four (Yes I know that "Four" is spelled wrong, it's supposed to be cute. Again- totally not me but whatever. I'm playing nice today.) in no particular order.

1. I am thankful for all my blog friends (and yes, you are my friends. Deal with it.) who prayed and are praying for my IRL friend when I announced she had a brain aneurysm. To feel led to pray for a complete stranger and then to actually do so is something that I am having a hard time comprehending. Human kindness, when freely given strictly for His kingdom, is a powerful thing.

2. I am thankful for God's grace and mercy. I am thankful that I can start each day new and know that it is a gift from Him. I am thankful that no matter how many mistakes I make or how many times I disappoint Him- He forgives me. I am thankful for that lesson in forgiveness. I am thankful that there is nothing I can do to earn God's grace- that He gives it freely because He already paid the cost of my sins and failings. His grace is free, I just have to learn to accept it.

3. I am thankful for my husband and children. I am thankful that I have been chosen to be the matriarch of these 5 boys/men. I am thankful that I don't have to be perfect. I am thankful that despite my bad moods, my unkempt hair, and my failure in keeping a perfect home does not stop them from accepting me for who I am and mostly liking me (because we can all be unlikable at times) through those ugly moments and loving me when we come out on the other side.

As always- if you'd like to see their faces super-sized click on the picture.

4. I am thankful that despite the state of the economy right now that I still have more than most in the rest of the world. I still live in a beautiful home, I still have food in my pantry, I still have electricity, and I can still go to sleep at night knowing that my family is safe and that we can fall asleep in our warm, comfortable beds and give our bodies and minds the rest that it needs.

What a beautiful list! I'm so glad that your friend is doing better. I truly believe in the power of prayer.

I had to laugh at your reaction to being all sentimental and the grammatical errors...that's so me, too!

You have really, unbelievably white teeth. Like movie star teeth (sorry, I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee and I don't need 3. I was awake after the 1st one).

Great list, mushiness and all. ;) I ♥ how God works through people to help others and bring others comfort. I've really been aware of that lately.

I am so glad your friend is doing better. What a blessing.

You left off one important one - to be alive and able to experience all these wonderful things.

Let's hear it for electricity, food, water, and shelter.
