Letters of Intent

Letters of Intent

Have something you are just dying to tell someone but not sure how it would go over? Have you watched someone speed down your street one to many times? How 'bout that next door neighbor who refuses to mow his grass or put his garbage can away? Or maybe you are head over heels in love and feel you must let the whole world know. Whatever it is write it out in letter format, grab my button off the left sidebar, and link up at the bottom! I promise you won't be disappointed and you may find yourself in the middle of some major drama. Somehow my blog attracts that kind of thing. It's all good though- blog drama is fun!

My Dearest Jakob,

It's hard to believe that today, October 30, 2009, you are 8 years old. Every parent says the same thing- it goes by so fast. And it truly does. As a child time is measured between birthdays, Christmas, and school years. As an adult time is measured by every moment of their children's lives. And as soon as one moment has passed you are on to the next one and as a parent I am in a constant whirlwind trying to treasure each moment as it races by. You, Jakob, are my joy.

October 30, 2001
When I look in this photo, I see my 8 year old in your tiny little face. You have lived up to every hope and dream I could ever have had for you and been more than I have ever dreamed.

August 9, 2004
Almost 3 years later you became a big brother and have always been the consummate teacher and protector of him. Even through the squabbles, your love for your brother shines bright.

Spring 2005
You were born during Game 3 of the 2001 World Series- Arizona Diamondbacks (4) vs New York Yankees (3). This started your love of all things baseball and at the very young age of 4, you played on your first T-ball team and hit your first in-the-park-homerun that season.
Christmas 2006
Not only are you a fantastic big brother, you idolize your older brothers. They have hung the moon for you and you are happiest when they are home.

Of all the Jakob's in all the world- you ,Jakob, are my very favorite one. Thank you for the honor of being your mother.

Love,

The woman who is so proud to hear you call her Mom.

Oh you big bully... I just knew you'd have something sarcastic and hilarious. And then I read it and get all weepy.

I just need to give that boy of yours a hug. And I need to give you a hug too (I'm your stalker of the week ;) cuz I know just how fast those days of motherhood pass.

And just what did you promise those boys in order to get a picture of them all in matching flannel pjs? :)

Great post... sniffle

I just wanted to know how you got all four to pose at once with no evidence of rabbit fingers or other boyisms?

Yep, I've been watching soccer for 6 years now so I figured I'd get off my ass and play. And I found a team that was willing to take me as is - an out of shape smoker! I love it. Thanks for reading :)

Your letter is beautiful! I am all teary-eyed now thinking of my own little beans and reminds me that even though they are currently fighting over the same blanket (even if there are two other blankets in proximity) to hug them. Thanks!

Such an amazing tribute to your son. I just adored this. Definitely something special for him to look back on as he gets older too.

Enjoy!

Awwww, his baby pic is just adorable! Well, all of his pics are, but don't tell him I said that. "Adorable" is NOT an acceptable adjective for an 8 yr old. Something more like "cool" or "awesome" would do. Happy bday Jakob!

BTW, I took the plunge and wrote a Letter of Intent. Thanks for the encouragement! It's pretty long though. I had a LOT to say! hehe

Gosh. 8 years old seems so big. I thought 5 seemed big (it still does, but...), I'm gonna be a wreck on every birthday, it's official.

I'm going to do this next week... I think.
