Dear Children's Clothing Fashion Designers,
It has come to my attention that you are creating an article of clothing that is completely inappropriate for little girls. They are unable to bend over, sit down, or play on the floor without revealing parts of their anatomy that do not need to be nor should they ever be revealed to anyone besides their parents or their physician.
Low-rise, hip-hugger, and/or skinny jeans should not nor should they ever be made for a girl under the age of 14. (I personally think skinny jeans ought to be outlawed- but that's another post for another time.) I have sat in elementary and middle school classrooms and watched these poor girls sit in their chairs at their desk and look like the common plumber. They cannot get down on the floor and play. They cannot bend over and pick up a pencil they dropped on the floor without having to yank on the waistband of their jeans. They cannot run and play on the playground because their jeans are so tight they cannot bend their legs in them. And the poor little girls who are overweight...they can hardly breathe as their muffin top strains against their shirt. It is a sad, sad reality of today's fashion.
Boys can run, jump, play, bend over, break-dance ,should they choose to do so, in their jeans and never once do they have to yank on their jeans to pull them up or yank on their shirt to pull it down over their waistband. All children should have such freedom. It is ridiculous that these young girls are subjected to "fashion" in such a way that their very freedom to move from one place to another is hindered.
No behinds hanging out or hands pulling up waistbands in this photo. Just boys playing and having a good time.I beg and plead to you to please stop making these low-rise, hip-hugger, and/or skinny jeans for the girls under the age of 14. It is cruel and unusual punishment for the poor things!
Sincerely,
The mother who is soooo thankful she has 4 boys and no hiney cracks.

32 Validations To Make Me Feel Worthy:
Great letter!! LOVE this. However, I have one of those weird bodies where normal rise pants go up to my boobs, so I HAVE to wear low rise pants...so I hope they don't discontinue them for adults for a very, very long time.
I would have to agree. I am so embarrassed for the little girls that have their crackers showing for all the world to see. It is not flattering at all.
My girls are 9 & 7 and they wear the skinny jeans, but not the skin tight ones that you can't move in and they are not low rise. So we are good, but I hear ya loud and clear.
Great letter.
AMEN!!!!!!!!!! I agree with all my heart. I mistakenly bought my girl bikini panties instead of briefs. She was 4!!!!! Why do they make bikini panties for little girls?!?! They are making self esteem issues, and they don't even care.
How right you are for most of the girls. I have to say though I have a child who is tall and thin and for her to not look like she is swimming in her pants I have to buy her skinny jeans and they also have to be slims with adjustable waist. But they aren't low rise because I agree with you there is nothing more attractive (and distracting!) than having to yank your pants up every minute. Although here we still have the boys who wear their jeans below their butts and they waddle just to keep them up. Blech! Great letter. ;)
LOL! I have the same problem, and my little girl is only 3!
I'll have to come back to this. I certainly have some letters of intent running through my brain!
I came by to welcome you to SITS! We're happy to have you with us!
Aye... I had to quit shopping in the junior section (when I WAS a junior) - because the stuff was just waaaay too revealing! I was blown away at some of the stuff they had for younger girls. And having a boy? Well I can really appreciate all that cute stuff that he can't wear! Why throw yuckiness into it?
I hear ya. Glad to see you back :)
i can't stand seeing girls wear these stupid skinny jeans. 99% of the girls should NOT be wearing them, and how unfair is that? i'm surprised that your school doesn't have a policy - i'm pretty sure that all of the schools here have a no bellybutton/buttcrack policy. and thank goodness for it, because i've seen what pre-teen and teen girls try to wear out of the house on the weekend.
I SOOO agree. Being on the "needs NOT to wear that kind of jean" side is not very pretty when all you can find is low rise, hip huggers that makes a person look 14 months pregnant. NOT good. I have to get the "expensive" jeans so I do not look like I am expecting. *sigh* And don't get me started on the butt crack!
The kids fashion these days is un-real. I totally agree with your list and was nodding my head the entire time like .. yep.. yep, lol.
So funny and so true! My cousin's little girls are always having to pull up their pants to keep their hineys from shining!
Again... glad I have boys. I get my girl "fix" when I buy presents for my nieces. Last time I was in the little girl's department, I was absolutely shocked at the hooker-style clothing (and my nieces are 1 and 3)!
Yep, yep, and yep. Damn clothing designers, what the hell?? My dtr has been out of the junior clothes since she was about 9 because while they make the jeans too low, they also make the shirts too short. Seriously?? Ass crack hanging out AND the belly showing? And omg, the Muffin top. hehe. that is funny and sooo true. My dtrs muffin top is out there over her skinny jeans often ... gggrrrr. I buy her shirts a little bigger though and if I can see her ass crack, then those jeans DISAPPEAR!
That makes me thankful that I only have boys and don't have to deal with that issue!
Well said, mama!!
Oh I soooo agree!! I am not sure 14 is a good age cut off though. My 24 year old Nanny has a rather large posterior and I have seen more than I care to see when she bends to pick up my son. Oi! Low rise should be a fashion DON'T regardless of age!
YUCK! I agree totally! I will NOT buy low rise jeans for my girls. I will NOT! They hate it, but for crying out loud... No one has to see that! Not even over 14...
SOOOO TRUE! Yet another reason to be glad I have 2 boys (who can think girls have cooties for as long as they like!)!
OH, so very true! I hate that they do that for those poor girls. Fashion needs an overhaul, because it is just not very nice looking for most people.
That is so true. I am so glad that I don't have girls right now, but then you remined me that I still do have to worrk about my boys looking at those girls. And the worrying never stops!!
I totally agree the only thing missing from Exhibit B is the nasty little g-string underwear that they also make to fit children WAY to young to wear them. ahh the shame!

We live in Cypress. No, I don't think having those silly veins makes snyone old, but it was too funny that he noticed it. I have a few and I'm 29. I think it is what those little monsters do to us when we are pregnant with them.
i don't think the trend of tight, low slung jeans will be going anywhere, anytime soon. as long as the celebutantes are wearing them, companies will continue to make these items for all the wannabe celebs. i used to work in the garment industry and i would cringe when young girls came in, with their bellies hanging out of their shirts, and modeling the low slung jeans around the store. i'm so happy i will only have to worry about my son and the baggy pants trend.
Oh, too much.
I have to agree. And it is not just little girls - it includes teens and young women as well. You would not believe the outfits young adult women wear to job interviews and on the job. It is no wonder so many companies are bring forced to issue multi-chapter dress codes for the work environment.
God look at those bum cracks...ewwwww.... I want my girls to be little girls for a bit longer, and wear pretty clothes, not what is on offer in shops here either...
Awesome letter. I too am glad I only have to shop in the boys section, but I am shocked when I pass by the little girl department, totally inappropriate clothing!
I am sooooooo tired of viewing the butt crack!!
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest! Can't imagine four, FOUR, 4 boys! I raised my husband's 3. They moved in w/us at ages 7, 10, 12. All grown now, whew! And one has blessed me w/a beautiful grandson. So it truly was all worth it. But wasn't sure there for a while.
Great letter! And so true. And also shirts that are three inches too short... because it often seems like the girls that really should not be wearing them are the ones that have them on. And even girls that have nice tummies still should not have them on.
Thanks for coming by my blog.
THANK YOU!!!!! Melody is only TWO and I constantly come across inappropriate articles of clothing. Seriously, wth!? Why would I put a shirt on my two year old that says brat?! And why would I put my daughter in a miniature version of a shirt that I have hanging in my closet that I wear when I want to show off my boobs. Sheesh!
I think the low-rise, hip-hugger, skinny jean industry should be shut down. I can't stand wearing them myself!
ROTFLMAO!!!
Love the cracked picture!!!
Well said! Now could you please lecture my 15 year old on why she shouldn't WANT to wear those silly things?!? I mean honestly. I choose comfort over everything else, always. You won't even find me in one of those gorgeous evening gowns (not that I would be attending an event where a dress of that magnitude would be required). I'll take comfy jeans and a t-shirt anyday!
