It's Mama's Losin' It writing assignment Thursday!
I chose writing prompt #4. But because I am who I am, I'm answering it my way. Clear as mud?
The "official" question is: 4.) "How are y'all doing it? This summer, I mean? I cannot remember ever being as busy as we've been over the past two months. Those of you who are blogging daily, being as witty and entertaining as ever...I beg of you...HOW?"
(inspired By Lula from Lulaville)
I'm changing the question to: How are y'all doing? What are your plans for the rest of the summer? Do you plan on soaking up every last bit of summer vacation that you possibly can or are you winding down and hanging out at home and mentally preparing for school to start? That's totally what MamaKat was asking right? I didn't change the writing prompt that much. Ahem.
Our plans for the rest of the summer were to leave yesterday evening for the gulf coast. We were going to spend 3 nights and 4 days frolicking in the sand and sun. We were going to eat seafood, ice cream, Whataburger (mmmmm...Whataburger), and salt water taffy.
I had packed our bags, cleaned the house, made arrangements for Chris' paycheck to be deposited, and charged my camera battery for those twilight (No not that Twilight) pictures on the beach in white shirts and tan shorts.
But instead, 4 hours before debarkation, we were visiting the local emergency room. *sigh* I will let the pictures speak for themselves. (Clicking on the photos will enlarge them.)

So what happened you ask? 2 broken bones, possible growth plate damage, a torn ligament, and damaged cartilage was all caused because of a few jumps on a trampoline. Not flips are fancy tricks mind you- just jumping. So our baby is on the DL for Fall Ball. *cry, sniff*
But I think Josh said it best, "You had one foot out the door on the way to vacation and you broke the other one."
You can go read other writing prompts that actually answered the questions over at MamaKat's house.

28 Validations To Make Me Feel Worthy:
Oh your poor baby. Hope he heals quickly. I am sorry that happened to him
OMG, that poor thing. Sucks to loose your vacation and break your foot all at the same time.
Missy
Oh no!! That poor boy. And poor all of you that have to miss your vacation. What a bummer!!
So, so, so sorry. Poor thing! Though I have to admit, that when I first saw the picture of him crying, he looked like he was crying over the hole in his jeans (which would have been ME...)
And my goofy casting story is that I was 18 months old when I broke my wrist for the first of three times. Stepping down ONE SINGLE STINKIN porch step.
The ER nurse told me to give her my arm. Promptly casted it and then said, "oh, did she break her other one too?"
You guessed it... I'd given her the arm that DIDN'T hurt.
Yeah, they had to cut it off (the cast, not my arm) and cast my other arm. Fun times. Yeah, I was popular there.
Sorry - hijacked your comments. But you still feel validated, no? ;)
Praying for speedy healing for Jakob! And maybe some great ideas for a local vacation?!?
o no! That's horrible... and missing the trip isn't even the worst part.. just look at that sad face! AND.. the growth plate thing - ugh! I was contemplating buying a trampoline, because my kids have so much fun jumping when they get a chance. Ummm... BUT... I just KEEP reading stories about broken limbs! We'll see!
Oh no!!! Bless his heart. Man that stinks. . .
Holy crap!! When your kiddo breaks something, he REALLY breaks something!!!
Wow.
Thanks for appreciating my obvious talent with re: to my frog. I don't think everyone gets it. You obviously have an eye for fine art!!
Hallie
OH MY SOUL!!!
wow...poor kid!!! that sounds like he has my gracefulness...which is zero..I run into walls in MY OWN HOUSE!!
{if you need a fill in for your vaca I'm available--just sayin'}
hope all heals well!!
Oh this is awful awful awful. His face is just heart-breaking. I'm so sorry you are all missing out on your vacation.
And I was thinking of getting a trampoline for my son but now I'm changing my mind....
Poor thing...a broken foot and no vacation! I hope it starts to feel better soon! At least he will get to be the cool kid at school with the great cast!
Oh no! Your poor baby. I sure hope he heals fast and get's lot's of whatever his little heart desires in the meantime. :)
Poor boy! I hope he gets to feeling better soon! And I hope his mama doesn't have too hard of a time without her vacation!
Can you guys reschedule?
Poor guy! So sad, really! Did you have to cancel vacation completely?
Thanks for the comments on my blog! I love them, you know!
Poor baby! I hope it heals quickly for him and that his growth plate isn't damaged. That sucks about your vacation.
whoa, that is crazy! poor guy, he looks like he's not amused at all that you were taking his pic through all the pain. very helpful visuals for us though, so thank him from all your blogger peeps. hope he feels better soon!
Poor kid! We can really relate! Looks just like Ryan's foot earlier this summer! Now he says "It wasn't so bad!" HA!
Just a trampoline?! REALLY!? My kids have been begging for one, but we haven't given in yet. Tho, I was thinking of getting one for them for Christmas... second thoughts.
Also, thanks for liking my knitted rug! It makes me smile in the midst of laundry duty.
Oh my. My heart goes out to you all. What a way to end the summer season. Jakob sure is a little trooper to be able to smile through any of this but that last pic...oh...so, so sad. I'll be praying that he heals quickly and completely and that he'll be as comfortable as possible during his time of recovery. Sorry to hear about the vacation too...that stinks. I sure hope you'll get to reschedule it somehow or plan something else soon to make up for it. Let us all know if you do...it will be nice to hear:)
Poor boy! He looks so miserable in the pic. When my daughter broke bones (2 wrists, one growth plate in hand, 3 different incidents), and when she got braces, I wished I could take the pain from her and have it as my own.
Since that wasn't possible, she made out pretty good at either the hospital gift shop, or the drug store afterwards.
Poor kiddo! No vacation and lots of pain! Sorry for all of you!! Where were you going?? We live in south MS, just miles from the coast, so I was curious.
Jen
OH NO!!!!!! That's horrible! Aww I hope he is feeling better, and I hope you won't miss that coast too much!
OMGosh, I don't know what to be more sad about...the vacation or the fall ball. My hubs would be so sad about the fall ball. Poor guy. I hope he is feeling better soon.
OH NO! You may have just convinced me to NOT buy a trampoline!!!!!
Oh no! Poor kid! That face is just pitiful. Sorry you missed out on your vacay.
It's a conspiracy by his opponents on the Japanese game show!
"You broke the other one..." LOL!
Hope you BOTH feel better soon!
Oh man!! The poor thing. Poor everybody!! No vacation. Well you'll just have to havea staycation. I hope he gets good meds to make him comfortable.
Poor, poor baby. You I mean!!! And your little one, the sad look on his face.... This is why I refuse to buy a trampoline even though the kids want one.. I hope he is okay and you guys get some sort of holiday soon..
Okay, that just sucks.
Taylor broke his right arm when he was one when he fell on a step at the park. Simple little fall.
Then when he was two, he fell off a curb. And broke his left arm.
So, that was fun.
