Girl Meets Boy

Once upon a time a girl met a boy.

Girl was 21, single, and just starting to explore the big, wide world that no longer held legal restrictions preventing her from entering adult establishments and partaking in adult beverages.

Boy was 31, divorced, and the father of two young boys- ages 6 & 8. Boy was spending time in the same adult establishments and partaking in different adult beverages enjoying the small reprieve from the realities of a mentally unstable female.

One day girl and boy wandered down the same road and crossed paths.

Girl was on a date with another boy. This was one of many dates girl had been on recently with many different boys. Girl was not in the mindset of wanting to settle down with any single boy and thought it was great to date boys who would buy her dinner and drinks and send them on their way. Girl discovered boys would continuously call and subject themselves to such treatment because girl was aloof but fun and was a challenge. Girl enjoyed all the food she could not afford to stock in her refrigerator.

Girl and boy who crossed paths at a gathering under a bridge started talking. Girl's date was preoccupied in a boring conversation. Girl and boy talked for several hours about meaningless things.

Girl drove away with date to her apartment and said her thank yous for dinner as she hopped out of his truck.

Girl thought about boy she met that night.

Girl started hanging out with boy at adult establishments on weekends for many, many weeks.

Girl and boy finally went out on a date.

Boy bought girl flowers for Valentine's Day.

Girl and boy have been together ever since.

Boy's sons have been in girl's life since one year after meeting girl.

Son's mother was never nice. Sons felt loyal to her for a while.

Sons have lived with girl and boy for 4 years now.

One son gave girl a card today for Mother's Day that makes up for every not nice thing his mother has said and done for the last 11 years.

Girl told son, "You are a son to me." Son didn't know that.

Girl has had the best Mother's Day ever.

So sweet. I almost cried. They will really be able to "talk" about this as adults and only likely then be able to let you know how much they appreciated you along the way...talk about 'delayed gratification", huh?

Kimberly- thank you!

Heather- I almost cried knowing you almost cried. ha ha ha. Yeah, sometimes kids don't realized why parents do what they do until they have kids of their own. At least that's how I was!
